Harold Schroer

July 31, 1933 — November 7, 2017

Harold Wayne Schroer, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed  away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at home. Harold was born July 31, 1933 to Walter and Delpha (Dillon) Schroer. He graduated from Higginsville High School. On December 18, 1952 he joined the Air Force and served until 1966. He worked as an electrician for Richards-Gebauer for several years. He retired as a planner/estimator for the Department of the Army in Leavenworth, KS. On November 3, 1990 he married Patricia Schumaker. Together they traveled and had many good times antiquing. Harold was a man that valued family, and was a great fatherly role model for many. In his free time he enjoyed tinkering on his antique toys. He will be remembered as a kind, patient, and generous grandpa.

Harold was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers; Walter Jr. and Edward Schroer, and two sisters; Margee Dryer and Barbara Schroer.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, eight children; Linda(Peter) Beck of Driffield, UK, Randall (Joni) Schroer of Overland Park, KS, Gregory Schroer of Raymore, MO, Teresa Grace of Kansas City, MO, Michael (Debi) Aven of Georgetown, IN, Kristi Ellison of Wilmington, NC, Wendy (Thomas)Fife of Weatherby Lake, MO, and Nicole Aven of Kansas City, MO. Also surviving is sister Lorene Burchett of Lexington, MO, and brothers; Robert (Carol) Schroer of Higginsville, MO, Donald (Barbara) Schroer of Oak Grove, MO, Carl (Mary) Schroer of Leawood, KS, and Gary (Donna) Schroer of Grain Valley, MO, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild with 2 more arriving soon.

Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2017 from 9 AM with Funeral Services immediately following at 10 AM at Christ Lutheran Church; 6700 NW 72nd  St. Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions go to Higginsville VFW.
