Carl Blackburn

February 7, 1930 — March 19, 2015

Carl E. Blackburn, 85 of Kansas City, died at his home on Thursday, March 19, 2015.  He was born in Stoutland, Missouri on February 7, 1930 to the late Rollin S. and Marian L. Blackburn.

Carl was a self-taught carpenter, building many new homes over the years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, and most of all helping others.  He married Norma Plemmons, the love of his life, on March 25, 1949 together they raised five children.

Carl is survived by his wife Norma J. Blackburn,  his children; Cheryl Beaver, Jackie (Reveille) Blackburn, Jimmy (Kathy) Blackburn Johnny Blackburn and Rhonda (Loyd) King,  he was the cherished grandfather of Chris, Heather, Lesley, Ashley, Amie, Katie, Barry, Jenny, Tiffany and the late Kelly Dawn Blackburn and Loyd Evans King.  Great grandfather of Christopher, Abby, Chloe, Avery, Kiley, Brittanie, Morgan, Madison, Audrie, Kinlie, Lauren, Kameron, Kayleen, Wesley, Brittany, Ethan, Carter and Peyton. Dear brother of Georgia Mae Martin, Peggy Porterfield, Karen Meyer and the late Duckie Head.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Judy, Carl’s caregiver for the past year, for her caring support and kindness.  He will be missed by those who knew him.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 1-4 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will be Monday at 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 at Gashland Baptist Church, 601 NE Barry Rd. Kansas City, MO 64155.  Interment will be at Terrace Park Funeral Cemetery.
