Duane McCombs

Duane Kary McCombs, 66, of Kansas City, MO passed away on July 10, 2014 at home.  Duane was born on March 9, 1948 in Oskaloosa, IA to Jim and Dorothy McCombs.  Duane graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1966 and the University of Iowa with a BBA in Industrial Relations in 1973.
Duane married Patricia Ott on December 20th, 1970.  Duane served in the Army for two years stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
Duane and Pat purchased a home in West Des Moines, IA where he worked at Massey-Ferguson.  They enjoyed ten child-free years before the birth of Alex (1980) and Kate (1981).  The family moved to Newport, AR in 1982, where the children were raised.  Duane accepted a position as VP for Human Resources at Fermenta Health in 1993 in Kansas City, MO.  Duane greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.  Fishing and hunting were his favorite hobbies.  Duane took many fishing trips to the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, as recently as several weeks ago.
Duane was a tireless provider, never failing to meet the needs of his friends and family.  He will be greatly missed.
Duane is survived by his wife Pat, two children: Alex of Kansas City, MO and Kate Baldwin (Ryan) of Lafayette, CA, brother, Roger McCombs (Mindy) of Nixa, MO, sister-in-law Cris McCombs, one nephew Ryan McCombs (Emily), and two nieces Megan McCombs and Casey Roberts (Jason).  Also survived by Dena Ott, Lynda Main (Tom), Vicky Phillips (Mike) and Clifford Ott (Denise).  Duane was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James and Craig in 2003 and 2007 respectively and father-in-law, Irvin Ott.
Memorials may be made to Wayside Waifs, KC Pet Project, Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter or The Human Society of Greater Kansas City.
