Howard Fields

May 24, 1938 — June 9, 2015

In the early morning hours of June 9, 2015, God saw Howard struggling and opened his arms to welcome him home. He is now walking pain free and breathing the fresh air of heaven. Howard was a strong man and fought many health issues over the last 38 years, never complaining, never asking “why me”. He was a sweet, gentle and caring man who was loved by so many and was always putting others before himself.

A memorial gathering will be Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 2 PM until time of service at 3 PM at Platte Woods Methodist Church 7310 NW Prairie View Rd. Platte Woods, MO 64151. Private urn placement will be Monday at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or the charity of your choice. Share online condolences at TerraceParkFuneral.com.

Howard’s real estate career began with Fireside Realty in 1973. Later he became owner/broker of Motion Realty with his partner Edith Mainprize until it was sold to Coldwell Banker, after which he brokered for many local real estate firms. Howard served as Vice-president of the Real Estate Board of KC, President of Multiple Listing Service as well as State Director of Missouri Real Estate Association.

Howard was very strong in his Christian faith along with his ever dying love for his family. His grandsons were everything to him. Howard served in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1967. He loved to go to Argosy Casino, playing golf, fishing, and playing jokes on people. He was very proud of his “hole in one” at Tiffany Greens and loved his time with the guys. He was a 15 year member of the “Hy-Vee Breakfast club” which he very rarely missed to find out the news of the day. Howard’s passing leaves a big hole in his family’s heart but God proves he only take the best.

He was the loving husband of 47 years of Susan (Genco) Fields, dear father of Michelle (Dan Blackwell) Garbelman; cherished Papa of Hunter and Brody Garbelman; dear brother-in-law of Marie Niepozeski, Frank (Judy) Genco dear uncle of Flo Sirna, John and Frank Baccala, Robin Jennings, and Bill Genco. He leaves behind many wonderful neighbors and friends; he will be missed by all who were privileged to know him. Howard is preceded in death by his parents and sister Lavonne (Nick) Baccala and brother-in-law Joe Niepozeski.
