Mary Ellen Kumpy, 92, of Lincoln, NE and formerly of Kansas City, MO passed away Sep 22, 2014. Mary Ellen was born the youngest of four on Dec 4, 1921 to Edna Ann (Whitaker) and Gustave Osman at Bevier, MO. She was a graduate of Missouri Valley College and on July 16, 1945 was united in marriage to Captain Donald W. Kumpy, USMC. To this union two children were born.
Above all family was the most important to her, especially her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She was also an avid Mizzou fan, the NAIA basketball tournaments and loved playing golf. She was a 50 year PEO with Chapter JC. Mary Ellen is survived by daughter, Susan Sadler of Lincoln, NE and son, Michael W. Kumpy and his wife, Pamela of Rockwood, TN; four granddaughters and 10 great grandchildren. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Kumpy and brothers, Edward and Walden Osman and sister, Margurite Brown.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, Sep 26, 2014 at 2:00pm at Terrace Park Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Tabitha Hospice, 4720 Randolph Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.
