Rick Dawson, 60, of Kansas City, MO passed away October 29, 2014 in Des Moines, IA. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday November 4th at Vineyard Church, 12300 NW Arrowhead Trafficway, Kansas City, MO. A reception will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pella Christian Grade School, Pella, IA or the Special Olympics.
Rick was born February 25, 1954 in Kansas City, Mo to Joe and Patricia (Appling) Dawson, and was a graduate of North Kansas City High School in 1972. After high school he started his truck driving career including working for Julep Enterprises, Robinson Cartage, F.F.M. and for the past 14 years driving for Wal-Mart. In his early adult life he enjoyed coaching football for the Gladstone Packers. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, boating, playing golf and was an avid sports fan. He loved traveling on family road trips, to see the Flint Hills, the mountains, and beaches. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Peggy Dawson, children, Ryan (Jamie) Dawson, Jason (Laura) Dawson, Amy Dawson, siblings, Linda Dawson, Stephen (Nola) Dawson, Sheryl Hastings, Rachel (Todd) Brown, Patricia Dawson, Josh (Erin) Dawson, 5 grandchildren, Makenzie, Maggie, Robby, Savannah and Jack. Rick hauled his last load October 29th.
