Betty Jo Gagnebin, daughter of the late Joseph E. & Grace (Cline) Nichols, was born on February 25, 1928 in Osceola, MO and departed this life on August 27, 2018 in Kansas City, MO. At the time of her passing she was 90 years, 6 months and 2 days of age.
On December 5, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Don Luis Gagnebin and to this union three daughters were born, all whom survive her. Betty began her career with the telephone company in 1947 when she accepted as a long-distance telephone operator position at 11th and Oak, Kansas City, MO. She continued working for the telephone company in Boston, MA and Oklahoma City, OK as she followed Don, who was in the military. She then took a two-year leave of absence while they lived in the Philippines, but later returned to the telephone company and worked at the Gladstone, Missouri office for 12 years. The Kansas City Data Center then became her home for nearly 11 years while she worked in the Network Control Center as an Advance Computer Attendant. Betty Retired from Southwestern Bell with a total of 42 years of service.
Betty has always been faithful in Christ and has been a member of Bethel Baptist Church since 1960. She raised her daughters in the Christian faith and kept them active in the church life by attending Sunday School Church Service, Vacation Bible School and other church functions. For many years, Betty donated two weeks of her vacation to teach the 3-4-year-old Vacation Bible School class. She also served as the church bookkeeper for many years. She was truly dedicated to service Christ. She was the salt of the earth.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Gagnebin; her sisters, Ruth Dempsey, Rebecca McClendon, Mary Eva Dotson-poppa, Ruby Butcher and Edna Barbarick. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Jo Mesh, Susan Joyce Ziegler and Peggy Dawn Supiran; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many friends and family who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Terrace Park Funeral Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Tony Preston officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Dominic Mesh, Stormy Supiran, Austin Supiran, Dillon Supiran, Steven Gauteri and Craig Perkins. Music will be performed by Brenda Miller. Interment will take place in Terrace Park Cemetery.
