Trimble

Leslie “Chuck” Irwin was born December 11, 1950 to Gordon V.  and Darleen M. Irwin. His early years were spent in the Northeast area of Kansas City.  His family moved to Platte County in the early 60s so that they could be close to the TWA overhaul base where his father worked in the instrument shop.  Chuck enjoyed the outdoors and living adjacent to his grandparents’ farm.  He was a proud Eagle Scout of Troop 395 as well as a member of the Mic-O-Say tribe. He graduated from Park Hill High School in 1969 where he ran track and participated in choir. Chuck attended classes at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.   He served in the Army from 1971 to 1974 as part of the Army Security Agency and served at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  He was employed with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for more than 40 years, retiring in 2011. Chuck was happiest when surrounded by his wife and children playing cards, listening to music and reminiscing memories of the extended family.

Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Cathy; five children, Leslie Irwin of Hamilton, MO; Michael Irwin (Tamra)of Emporia, KS; Michelle Delk (Chad) of Kansas City, MO, Whitney Irwin of Kansas City, MO; and Stephanie Summers of Kansas City, MO.
