Darla French

January 12, 1963 — June 24, 2017

Darla Kay French, 54, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at North Kanas City Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. Darla was born January 12, 1963, in Moberly, Missouri to Raymond and Beverly Ballew Dunkin. She graduated from Winnetonka High School. On June 27, 1987 she married her husband Chris French in the Winnwood Baptist Church. The couple met after Darla showed up to scold Chris at the swimming pool where Chris was the life guard that had to remove her brother for rowdy behavior. Darla worked many years in the banking industry, and the last being with Bank Liberty for 8 years. Darla loved her kids and extended family. She also had a special place in her heart for her furry kids. In her free time she enjoyed reading books by James Patterson, watching her favorite TV shows, Flip & Flop, and Survivor. Darla spent time playing her Farmville game and using Snapchat. She also loved her time gardening, which was actually picking out flowers and letting Chris plant them. She recently got to take her trip to Florida with her mom that they had wanted to do for a long time, spending time walking on the beach and sharing memories. The family will always remember her as a strong fighter, pet lover, and someone that gave of herself to so many around her.

Darla is preceded in death by her grandparents George and Wanda Woods, and Della and Earl Duncan.

She is survived by both of her parents, her husband of 30 years, a son Brendan of Kansas City, MO, her daughter Morgan (Bryan) Taylor, also of Kansas City, MO, father and mother in law Larry and Janice French, her fur babies Abagail and Dory, a sister, Rayma MacRae of Kansas City, Kansas, and three brothers Doug and Robby Dunkin of Kansas City, MO and Michael Dunkin of Excelsior Springs, MO. Also surviving is Jacob Goehring of Kansas City, MO, two aunts Twana DuPaul of Kansas City, MO and Patsy Geisler of Columbia, MO, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
