Doris Pickard

Doris Jane “Janie” Pickard,

Janie was born on October 15, 1948 to Randall and Sophia Thornton in Marshall, Missouri. Her family moved to the Northland when she was five and she was in the first graduating class of Oak Park High School in 1966.. She had a variety of jobs over the years, but her main focus was always caring for her family and loved ones. Janie had a big heart and was always the first one to help out a friend or stranger in need. Her love of cooking and making wedding cakes later turned into a catering business that she ran with her husband for many years. Janie also loved traveling, especially to the Colorado Rockies. Her compassionate nature and quick witt will be fondly remembered and  greatly missed by her husband of 45 years, Wick Pickard; children, Daniel Meyer, Patricia Svoboda, and Sandra Meyer; grandchildren, Brandon McKown, Nathan Winburn, Courtney Wheeler, Alexandra Meyer, Kaitlin Svoboda, Carson Meyer; great grandson, Weston Wheeler; and siblings, Alice Young, Donna Harris, and Randy Thornton. She is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Amelia Meyer.

Funeral services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28th at 3:00pm, with the visitation beginning at 2:00pm. Contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
