Dorothy Collins

Dorothy Jeanne Collins, 94, of Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the New Mark Care Center. Dorothy was born January 21, 1924 to Lester and Edith (Cloud) Yager in Kansas City, MO.  Dorothy graduated from Westport High School. She loved baking and worked as a baker most of her life and she met Carl Kelley while both worked as bakers.  In 1942 the couple married.  Dorothy eventually progressed to manage a couple different Cake Box Bakery Stores and also Bob’s IGA Bakery. On December 13, 1956, she married Samuel Collins. In her free time Dorothy enjoyed garage sales, and decorating and working in her yard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald, and both husbands.

She is survived by her sons Ronald (Mary) Kelley of Little Rock, AR, and Mark Collins of Gladstone, MO, grandchildren; Steven, Danny, Lisa, Lynn, and Ron Jr., nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:00AM with Funeral Services immediately following at 11:00 AM at Terrace Park Funeral Home Lakeside Chapel; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO.
