Irene Jones

Irene Anna Jones, 92, of Riverside, MO passed away on October 31, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. Irene was born on December 16, 1925 in Wathena, KS to William and Anna Loroff.  She moved to Kansas City, MO after high school where she met the love of her life, Norman L. Jones.  She was very active in the lives of her children and was well known throughout her community acting as head librarian for Mid-Continent Library – Riverside Branch for over 20 years.  She and Norman were faithful servants of Christ Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Norman; son, Dr. Robert Wayne Jones; two brothers, Wilbur and Lawrence; and sister, Verda Glee. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Dr. Robert) Ziegler, Dr. Norman L. (Mirna) Jones, Tyra (William) Mason; grandchildren, Dr. Robert C. (Brenda), Michael (Eleshia), Alex (Lauren), and Dr. Nathan (Caitlin) Ziegler, Breanne (Anthony) Accardo, Jenna (Gary) Barker, Brittany (Alex) Lowe, Cassandra (Eric) Binns, Byron (Laura) Mitchell, Brett (Katie) Mason and Brooke Duncan; and 18 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 4th from 5-7pm, with services following Monday at 11am. Burial will be at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or St. Jude.
