James Robert Love

June 22, 1931 ~ November 5, 2018 (age 87)

James R. (Jim) Love, 87, of Kansas City, MO, passed away at North Kansas City Hospital on November 5, 2018, surrounded by his family. Jim was born June 22, 1931, to Karl and Katherine Love, in Springfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Darrel Love.

Jim is survived by his wife Bette, with whom he shared sixty-nine years of marriage. He is also survived by his children Philip (Patty) Love, David Love, and Beth (Dale) Woodford, grandchildren Mathew (Danica) Love, Brett (Natasha) Love, Emily (Tilman) Achberger, Natalie (Adrian) Singletary, Garrett Woodford, and Cameron (Jessica) Love. Jim was the proud Great Grandad of 13 children: Mallory, Jimmy, Henry, and Charlie Love, Addison, Hannah, and Evelyn Achberger, Hailey Shaver, Isabella and Beau Love, Naomi and Corinne Singletary, and Abriana Love. Jim also leaves sister Jean Gist and brother Gerald (Betty) Love of Springfield, MO, and sister Glenda (Gary) Williams of Lancaster, CA. Uncle Jim leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, each of whom cherish their designation as his favorite!

Jim was an extremely dedicated and faithful family man. He dearly loved and cared for his wife, Bette, whose struggle with advancing Altzheimer’s Disease he managed honorably with great devotion and humility.

Jim’s interests and commitments extended beyond his many business ventures. He helped to found North Woods Christian Church, and served on the Board of Directors of Baptist Medical Center and Mercantile Bank for many years. He gladly offered counsel and business advice as a highly sought after mentor, advisor, and friend to countless who valued his wisdom, his friendship, and his keen interest in their lives.

Later in his life, Jim began to study art with diligence and enthusiasm, and created beautiful plein air paintings. He pursued the process of improving his artistic skills with the same diligence and work ethic he invested in his business life. His art provides a lasting memory for all who are fortunate to own one of his pieces.

Jim Love, husband, father, Grandad, Great-Grandad, brother, uncle,  and friend will always be fondly remembered with our love and deepest appreciation.
