Obituary

Kenneth “Kenny” W. Jenkins Jr., of Platte City, Missouri passed away on November 11, 2019 at Menorah Medical Center.

Kenny was born on May 11, 1936 at Longview Farm in Lee’s Summit, Missouri to Kenneth W. Jenkins and Beatrice M. (Warcham) Jenkins. He spent his formative years in Mission, Kansas and then moved to the Northland, where he graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1955. He actively participated in basketball and football, joined numerous clubs and organizations, and became student council president his senior year. After some time at Northwest Missouri State University, Ken went to work for the Kansas City Water Department and then accepted a job at Western Auto where he built and remodeled buildings country wide. After ten years he decided to help his father start up a machine shop business. His brother, Doc, then joined the business to help it grow and the two of them continued in the business over the next 40 years. Kenny was active in his community becoming a member of the North Kansas City Breakfast Club, No Names organization, Northland Chamber of Commerce and Platte County Historical Society. He served on the Platte County Board of Zoning Adjustments and the North Kansas City Hospital Board of Trustees. Kenny also loved lending a hand to many local projects; parades fundraising events, Platte County Fairs and more. For his participation, leadership and dedication to community, he was later inducted into the Northtown Hall of Fame. Kenny is survived by his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Kenna Spangler (Mark); his grandchildren, Brian (Dani), Chris (Leigh), Andrew, Emily Edelfsen (Ryan) and four (almost five) great grandchildren.
