Marcie Lynn (Conor) Kneib, born to Earth 52 years ago on October 11, 1967, fought a courageous, long battle with breast cancer and was born to Heaven on October 11, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17th at 11:00am, with the gathering of friends and family beginning at 10:00am.
Marcie is survived by her husband David Matthew Kneib of Kansas City, MO; children, Brianna Kneib and Kain Kneib of Kansas City, MO; parents, Darrel and Vicki Conor of Kansas City, MO; sister, Amy Marable of Omaha, NE; and grandmother, Vera Thetford of Lenexa, KS.
Marcie was born in Olathe, KS and graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, MO. She attended Northwest Missouri State University, where she met the love of her life, David Kneib, and they were joined in marriage on June 2, 1990. Marcie also attended UMKC before beginning her career at Metlife as a receptionist. She then went to Patriots Bank in Parkville, MO working as a bank teller until 2008. That same year she began working at Bluescope as a billing coordinator until her diagnosis in January 2017.
Before anything else, Marcie was a wonderful wife and mother. She put her family and loved ones ahead of herself, always thinking of what was best for her family. She enjoyed taking long walks on nature trails, before and after her diagnosis, and TV shows about ghosts and houses. She also kept a small garden in her backyard. In the years after her diagnosis, Marcie and her husband crossed items off of her bucket list, which included a weekend retreat for breast cancer patients and their spouses, and a visit to the Grand Canyon.
Her family is forever grateful to the doctors and nurses who treated Marcie and showed her so much love and compassion. Please feel free to direct any donations to the Saint Luke's Koontz Center for Advanced Breast Cancer in memory of Marcie.
