Margaret Yates

June 30, 1926 — July 12, 2018

Margaret Lee Yates, 92, of Kansas City, MO passed away July 12, 2018. Margaret was born in Scott County, Arkansas to Issac and Alice Watts on June 30, 1926.


Margaret would later move with her husband of 65 years, Ernest Yates, to Kansas City where they raised their three daughters. She worked as an office manager for many years at Helzberg Jewelers. She enjoyed playing cards and dominos, watching Royals baseball, and traveling, especially to Grand Cayman, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.


She is survived by her daughters; Brenda (Jim) Lighthill and Sherry Cowell; grandchildren, Lori (Eric) Moskowitz, Andy (Irmtraud) Cowell, Kirsten (Scott) Davis, and Brian Garvin; great grandchildren, Devin, Taylor, Sophia, Sam, Avery, and Silas; her sister, Charlene; son-in-law, Gary Garvin, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Yates, and daughter, Linda Garvin.


Visitation will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 from 10-11am at the Terrace Park Funeral Home, with funeral services to begin at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at the Terrace Park Cemetery.
