Marlene Stolfus

Marlene Ann Stolfus, 78, passed away on July 27, 2019.

Marlene was born on June 8, 1941 to Elmer and Mary (Holigan) Knapp in Warren, Ohio. As soon as Marlene turned 18, she moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend Moody Bible Institute and work for Regular Baptist Press, a Sunday school material supply company. While there she met Wally Stolfus who was invited by a mutual friends to attend her church. They were married on July 20, 1963. To further his education in electrical engineering, Wally  attended the University of Iowa and Iowa City Iowa. Thereafter they relocated to Elgin, Iowa where the happy couple lived for 10 years until relocating to Lansing Kansas and the area around Kansas City, Missouri for new job opportunit ies . During this time, Marlene was a stay at home mom caring for their three children. Marlene loved being outdoors and taking long walks. When she wasn’t enjoying the outdoors she would spend time reading the latest Reader’s Digest or Saturday Evening Post, but what was most important to her was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marlene is preceded in death by parents; husband of 36 years, Wally Stolfus; and brother, Richard. She will be fondly remembered and greatly miss by children, Alisa (Keith) Beach, Michelle (James) Christensen, and Alan (Erin) Stolfus; and grandchildren, Ashley, Drew, Tristram, Luke, Ella, Jillian and Hudson .

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 2:45pm, with a short visitation beginning at 2:30pm, at Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sherwood Bible Church on Monday, July 29 th at 7:00pm, with a light dinner served one hour prior. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
