Marlin Sluder

January 3, 1934 — December 30, 2018

Gladstone, Missouri

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Marlin Oliver Sluder, 84, of Kansas City, MO, passed away early Sunday morning, December 30, 2018. He was just 4 days shy of celebrating his 85th birthday.

Surrounded by loved ones, he passed away peacefully after two weeks of difficult conversations and saying goodbye to his wife, kids and grandkids.

He leaves his wife of nearly 54 years, Ida Sluder; his brother, Olan Vance Sluder; his daughter, Samantha (Sluder) Kitch and husband, Randy Kitch; son, William Sluder; son, Marlin Sluder, Jr and wife, Sarah Sluder; son Samuel Sluder and fiancé Jordan Hissan; son, David Sluder and Jennifer Mackey.

He also leaves behind twelve beautiful grandchildren:  Trent, Trever, Riley, Kenedi, Autumn, Trew, Wyatt, Samuel, Reese, Trinity, Olivia and Savannah.

Marlin was born and raised in the panhandle of Texas in a small town called Happy, TX.  He graduated from Happy High School in 1952 and made it to most of his high school reunions.

At age 21 he was drafted into the Army where he was a Supply Officer and served 2 years in Germany.  After being honorably discharged, he eventually started working with Southern Farm Supply which was later acquired by Farmland Industries where he worked and retired after 30 plus years of service.

And it was no secret that Marlin (aka “Slick”) enjoyed collecting and attending weekly auctions. While there he made many friends and even had his own saved chair that everyone knew was reserved for him alone.

We will be holding a celebration of life service to be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home (801 NW 108th St/Shoal Creek Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64155) on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
