Norbert Hebert

June 2, 1934 — September 29, 2017

Norbert G. Hebert, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away September 29, 2017 at KU Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1934 in Roxbury, Vermont to the late Donat and Beatrice (Jerry) Hebert.

Growing up, Norbert attended Northfield High School where he received his diploma on June 12, 1953. While in high school, Norbert served in the Army National Guard. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957. During this time, Norbert married Phyllis Machia on January 12, 1957. Norbert and Phyllis knew each other from the time Phyllis was 12 years old and even though their marriage ended, they remained good friends throughout their lives. Over the years, Norbert wore a hat of many trades. He was the Crew Chief for Chuck Yeager, served on the volunteer Fire Department in Browns Mills, NJ, and on the Boy Scout Committee from 1968-1974. He was also a member of the Civic Association. Norbert worked for TWA from 1960 until his retirement in 1992. He remained active with various other jobs even after his retirement. Norbert was a member of Vineyard Church in Kansas City North. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, inventing, and talking airplanes.

In addition to his parents, Norbert is preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian and Velma.

Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Noel (Leah Blewitt) Hebert and Dale (Karen) Hebert; daughters, Tammy (Cindy Frakes) Hebert and Kelly (Mike) Booth; 4 grandkids, Alex, Drew, Micah (Todd), Nathan; 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jordan and one on the way; brothers, Bernard (Judy) Hebert, Arnold (Evelyn) Hebert, Danny (Faye) Hebert; sister, Tina Ryder; special friend Marge Severin and friend and former wife, Phyllis (Wayne Baker) Hebert.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
