Paul Shipers

October 23, 1946 — March 15, 2018

Paul Michael Shipers, 71, of Holt, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Liberty Hospice House. Paul was born October 23, 1946 to Oren and Letha (Daniel) Shipers in Pattonsburg, MO. He graduated Pattonsburg High School and immediately joined the Marine Corp. and served during the Vietnam War. He married Sharon McNeal on July 22, 1972 at the First Baptist Church of Smithville. Paul supported his children in their different Sports and school activities. He even dared to be a chaperon for Rebecca’s overnight field trip to Fantastic Cavern’s. He would stop by after work and watch her track meets and became a fan of the rest of the team when he brought refreshments to drink. He continued his support with both children as they went through college. Paul was a neighbor that was always there to help with anything needed. He passed his free time working in his garden, watching the Chiefs and Royals. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, college basketball and football. But his favorite was his time visiting with his neighbors.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Sharon Moore, Mary Shipers, Georgia Shipers, and brother Bobby Shipers.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, his son Oren Shipers of Holt, MO, and his daughter Rebecca (Ryan) McGahey, brother Dave Shipers, sisters; Glenetta Taylor, Karen Hardin, Della Rowell, Pat Young, Anna Knefaty, and a host of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside service and burial will be in the Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions go to the Disabled American Veterans. Share online condolences at TerraceParkFuneral.com.
