Sherril Nevins

September 7, 1936 — June 30, 2019

Kansas City

Sherril Ann Nevins was welcomed home by her heavenly father in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was born in Macomb, Illinois on September 7, 1936, to Dorothy and Ralph Foltz.  Sherril attended high school in Brookfield, Missouri, where she met her life-long love, Jack Raymond Nevins.  After graduating from St. Joseph’s Catholic School of Nursing, Jack and Sherril were joined in wedded matrimony at Immaculate Conception Church and took residence in Kansas City, Missouri.

Sherril was deeply devoted to her family.  She taught all of her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren to love deeply, be generous of spirit, and the blessing of forgiveness. Sherril truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: socializing with friends and family; snuggling up with a good romance novel, cooking and baking for special events, and gardening.  She had a passion for travel, especially her RV trips with her husband and children and her European adventures with her mother and sister, Janet.

Sherril was a consummate caregiver throughout her life.  She was a dedicated registered nurse for 45 years, working 43 of those at North Kansas City Hospital. Providing compassion, grace and dignity in service to others was her life’s vocation.  Our hearts are full in the knowledge that her family was able to provide the same loving gift of care to her prior to her journey to heaven.

Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Sherril is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Jack Nevins, her parents Dorothy and Ralph Foltz, and her brother Carl Foltz.  Sherril is also survived by her sister and husband Janet and Jerry Stella; sister-in-law, Marilyn Foltz; her five children and their spouses Tony and Lourette Nevins, Lorraine and John Pierce, Teresa and Jonathan Davis, Mary and John Blanton, and Jack and Christine Nevins; 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews.

Please join us in a celebration of life for Sherril Ann Nevins.
