Tamra Edds

October 14, 2019

Tamra Lynn (McOsker) Edds passed away on October 14, 2019, at the age of 58 years.

Tammy was born in Monterey, California to Bruce V.  and Barbara Rudd McOsker on July 20, 1961. After losing her mother less than a year later, she soon met Carolyn Walker McOsker who became her mom and best friend. Together with her siblings, the family lived in Central California until they moved to St. Louis, Missouri when she was 8.  At 13, they moved to Kearney, Missouri, where Tammy graduated from high school in 1979.

She was married to Keith Bowen in 1982 and soon welcomed 5 children to the world. Tammy’s children were always the most important part of her life.

Later, as a single mother, Tammy went back to college and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She continued on to receive an MBA from Rockhurst University. She always believed that her faith and family, both biological and through her church, were what helped her to succeed in her difficult times.

As a woman of many talents, Tammy was always proud of her skills as a quilter, knitter, seamstress, board game player and word puzzle master. Even after suffering illness that left her disabled for many years, she could still beat any challenger at Yahtzee and Dominoes.

Tammy considered herself lucky to find love again and married her sweetheart Wilbur J. Edds in February 2017.

Tammy was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Gregory McOsker, and sons Gregory Bowen and John Bowen III.

She will always be remembered and missed by her husband, Wilbur Edds; children, Hyrum Bowen, Jeni (Julian) Furrow and Carolyn (Michael) Nordquist; 8 adoring grandchildren; siblings, Renee (Jeff) Smith, Kimberly (Brent) Richardson, Wendy (Joe) Ellison, Curtis McOsker, Chris McOsker, and Tonya Dixon; and many more nieces and nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (5550 N. Jackson Ave., Kansas City, MO) on Saturday, October 19th at 12:00pm, with visitation beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John Bowen Memorial Fund to help continue on the scholarship created in honor of her son.
