Thurman Lovejoy

August 13, 1927 — January 25, 2019

Thurman Lee Lovejoy, 91, of Gladstone, MO died on Friday, January 25, 2019. He was born August 13, 1927, in St. Albans, West Virginia to the late Lonnie and Ruth (Beardslie) Lovejoy.

Thurman was a man of many talents and had a gift using his hands.  He played guitar and piano and was the owner and mechanic of his own auto repair shop.  He was also a race car driver. He was inducted into the Central Auto Racing Boosters (CARB) Hall of Fame in 2009.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years Tonna Lovejoy, sons Jeff (Debbie) Newkirk and Bill Newkirk; grandchildren Justin, Shaun, Andrew and Morgan.

In addition to his parents Thurman is preceded in death by his daughter Ramona Stephens and granddaughter Jamie Lee Newkirk.

Friends may gather Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 1:30-2:30 pm; celebration of life service will begin at 2:30 all at the Terrace Park Lakeside Chapel; 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO. Interment in Terrace Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children .  Share online condolences at TerraceParkFuneralHome.com.
