Esther Anna Friesen, 66, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Esther was born, June 19, 1950, to Floyd and Polly (Yoder) Fry, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Central Christian High School in Hutchinson, KS in 1968. Two years later, she married Galen Friesen on July 25. They then served together for two years under the Greater Europe Mission in Sweden. They returned stateside and resided in Meade, KS from 1974-2000 where they raised their two children. She worked as secretary for Meade Grade School for 11 years. For the past 16+ years, she found great fulfillment working for the Home Health Department of North Kansas City Hospital where she retired December 2016. Reading, traveling, and serving her church gave her great joy. During the holidays, she was well known for her baking and sharing with her family, coworkers and friends. The love she extended to her children knew no limits. Esther was a loving grandmother and took great pride in her "grand-babies." Spending time with her grandchildren and passing on her legacy was of great importance for her. Her life exemplified Proverbs 31.
Esther is preceded in death by her father Floyd.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, her mother Polly, a son Chadron (Krista) Friesen, of Langley, BC, a daughter Amber (Nathaniel) Bishop, of Grand Rapids, MI, six grandchildren; Caleb, Katherine, Daniel, and Isaac Friesen, Ethan and Gabriella Bishop. Also surviving is a sister Sherry (Rodney) Troyer, of Mio, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 PM with a Memorial Service immediately following at 5:00 PM at the NW Bible Church, 6520 NW 64th St, Kansas City, MO 64151.
