Nina told stories to her family of gathering eggs, and doing other chores, while her brothers and father went on long hunting trips. Her first daughter, Lynn Gisele May (husband Timothy) was born in 1958, and her second daughter Ann Michele Sherfield (husband Bryan), was born in 1965. Nina was very devoted to her family. As a young family they enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating and auto racing. James Sr. died in 1968, and at that time Nina choose to focus on raising her children in Gladstone, MO.

After moving, Nina made a career working at Montgomery Ward as a cashier coordinator. Nina retired after 10 years of work, and centered her life on her family. In addition to being a loving and caring mother, she was the devoted grandmother of Kristy, Tamara (husband Brian), Amie (husband Justin), Nicole (husband Amos), Luke and Jason (deceased). Nina spent much of her adult life attending the activities of her grandchildren. Nina was the great-grandmother of the precious Breanna, Wyatt, Cooper, Sofia, Macie and Mya. She was also a dear aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Nina was a long time member of the Eastern Star and the Water’s Edge Church in Kansas City, MO.
