Anthony "Tony" Johnson

January 26, 1969 — December 13, 2022

Anthony (Tony) Neil Johnson, 53, of Kansas City North, passed away on December 13, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.

Tony was born on January 26, 1969 to Ronald and Janene Johnson in North Kansas City, Missouri. After Tony graduated from Park Hill High School in 1987, he drove by a college on the way to his truck driving career where he began work at Arkansas Freightways, which became American Freightways, which became Fed-Ex. He went on medical leave after 31 years of dedicated service.

Tony is the proud father of Regan Nelson and Connor Johnson whom he loved taking to Great Wolf Lodge when they were children. They were avid members of the Wolf Pack and were loved by the staff.

After decades of sitting, Tony preferred to spend his time standing as the center of attention, spinning a wild tale of the good ole times, and filling the room with his machine gun laughter. Some of the wild tales include joining the Olympic “National Skipping League,” being an alien from another world, and spooking everyone with his ghost stories of Grandpa Swamley. His loved ones recall Tony’s deep devotion to murder mystery audio books, country’s greatest hits, and singing at the top of his lungs, although off key.

Tony was preceded in death by his sister Roni Schroeder and his grandparents.

Tony is survived by his children Regan (Andy) Nelson and Connor Johnson, his parents Ron and Janene Johnson, his sisters Jackie (Tonie) Baker and Jodi (Chris) Haworth, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home (Mount Moriah) on Sunday, December 18 from 4-6 pm, with a time for sharing remembrances beginning at 5:30 p.m. ,and a 1 pm burial on Monday, December 19.
