Betty Joan Douglas, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 30, 2020. Betty was born on August 5, 1936, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, second-born of four, to Clyde Anderson Rich and Ruby Jewel England. After raising six children, she then took a position as a customer service specialist at UMB Bank, from where she retired in 2007. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and flowers. She was an avid sports fan, but especially enjoyed cheering for the Royals and the Chiefs. She was someone who never knew a stranger, was kind, compassionate, spunky, and larger than life. She was happiest when serving, frequently sacrificing her own needs and comfort for the benefit of others. She also delighted in opening her home to anyone and everyone. She will be greatly missed by her six children (Jim, Joni, Bini, Pam, Tracy, and Paul), five grandchildren (Anna, Jenifer, Daniel, Jessica, and Brenna), and two great-grandchildren (Bodhi and Miles) as well as extended family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions to Kansas Hospice (https://www.kchospice.org/) or the American Heart Association(https://www.heart.org).
