Betty June Eplee, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on August 12, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, Betty lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication.
Betty was well-known for her career with Praxair, where she spent many years inspecting and fixing airplane blades, demonstrating both skill and diligence. Her professional contributions were significant, but it was her personal qualities that truly defined her legacy. As a fantastic cook, Betty opened her home to all, feeding everyone who came through her doors. She extended her generosity beyond her household by delivering meals to the elderly who were unable to get out and about, ensuring that no one in her community felt alone or neglected.
Educated at Woodland Grade School and Northeast High School, Betty carried a spirit of lifelong learning and service into all aspects of her life. She cherished her faith and was a steadfast member of her church community, initially attending Temple Baptist as a child before becoming an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church as an adult. Her love for Jesus Christ inspired her many acts of kindness, including volunteering at the church, where she greeted all who entered with warmth and compassion.
Betty shared a beautiful 68 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Vernon, who preceded her. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Betty’s unwavering faith and love extended into her family, where she took pride in being a devoted mother and grandmother, nurturing and supporting her loved ones.
In addition to her family and community service, Betty had a passion for music. She enjoyed singing and participated in performances and programs, sharing her love for Christian music with joy and enthusiasm.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on August 1, 2025, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri. The service will begin at 1:30 PM.
Betty June Eplee will be remembered for her kindness, her culinary talents, her vibrant faith, and the love she generously shared with everyone around her.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Myrtle Swafford; her husband Vernon Eplee Sr.; sisters, Roberta Rhodes, Mary Glamann; brother, Dwight (Sonny); and granddaughter; Teressa Smith.
She is survived by her children, Vicky Eplee-Glin, Linda McIntire (Terry), Vernon Eplee (Crystle), and Mark Eplee; 14 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many several nieces and nephews.
