Betty Hodges

Betty Jo Hodges, 82, of Kansas City, MO passed away May 15, 2013. Her funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, May 20th at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Chapel with visitation starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at East Slope Cemetery in Riverside, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care. Betty was born August 29, 1930 in Star City, Arkansas to Edgar and Erma (Boyd) Farmer. She was raised in Arkansas where she met and married James Hodges. They then moved to Kansas City where they started their family. Together they raised 6 children, while making their home in Parkville, MO where Betty found a career in accounting at Park University- which opened doors for many business opportunities until retiring in 1983 and moving out of the city. In her later years, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; grandson, Christopher Wantland and a great granddaughter. She is survived by daughter, Mary Wantland; son, James Hodges and wife, Danita; son, William Hodges and wife, Becky; son, Larry Hodges; daughter, Hope Atchinson and husband, Skeet; daughter, Melinda Hott and husband, Cory; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
