Betty Klamm, age 96, passed away on August 13, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, and spent most of her childhood on the family farm in Eldon, Missouri.

She married Walter Klamm Jr. on September 5, 1954, and they made their home north of the river in Kansas City, Missouri. Together, they had two daughters and a son. Betty was a homemaker for several years and always enjoyed the creative side of life. She loved sewing and making art - especially watercolor and acrylic paintings. She also loved to decorate cakes, creating many character birthday cakes, wedding cakes, and other special occasion cakes. As a room mother at her children's schools, she often brought cupcakes to the classroom. Betty loved baking. She was famous for her breads and pies. Betty was a member of Linden Baptist Church, where her faith and church community were an important part of her life. For several years, she created flower arrangements for the altar, helped prepare meals for church events, served on the WMU committee, and sang in the choir.

During her career, Betty worked as a cashier in several grocery stores. She shared many stories about working at Milgram's in her early years and later at White Front Grocery Store in Gladstone. She eventually became a CNA and worked at Spelman Memorial Hospital.

In her later years, Betty enjoyed sharing stories about life on the farm and growing up in Eldon. She spoke with great passion about her old schoolhouse, her days on the farm, and time spent working in the fields.

Betty is survived by her children, Teresa Klamm of Denver, Nancy Klamm of Waukegan, and Norman (Susan) Klamm of Gladstone; her granddaughters, Heather Klamm, Whitney Klamm Williamson, Faith Klamm, and Hope Klamm; and her great-grandson, Waylon Rylee Klamm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Klamm Jr; her parents, Willard and Ida Carrender; her brother, William Carrender; and her sisters, Fern Tieman, Ola Ray, and Effie Blair.

Betty will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, who knew her lovingly as Aunt Betty.

Services for Betty will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Thursday, August 20th with visitation from 10am to 12pm, following by the funeral service and burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to KC Pet Project.
