Carl Edward Dunkin passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 86.
Carl was born on May 6, 1939, in Holliday, Missouri to Earl and Della Dunkin. He was one of eleven children, growing up in a large and loving family that shaped his strong work ethic and deep love of family. He attended high school in Moberly, Missouri before eventually making his way to Kansas City, Missouri to begin his career.
Carl worked at the Ford Motor Company - Claycomo Plant from 1961 to 1965. He went on to dedicate 32 years of service to Clay County Civil Defense and North Kansas City Development Company, working in facilities and maintenance, until his retirement.
It was in Kansas City where Carl met the love of his life, Laura. The two were united in marriage on November 10, 1962, and together were blessed with seven children.
In his free time, Carl found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, card games, scratch-offs and word searches. He could often be found feeding squirrels, taking cherished family vacations to Branson, Missouri, or cheering on his favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Weekly visits to Burger King in NKC were a beloved tradition he always looked forward to.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Laura Dunkin; daughter, Cynthia; and siblings, Catherine Todd, Glenda Gerry, Donna Hailey, Richard Dunkin, Leonard Dunkin and Jerry Dunkin; and parents, Earl Dunkin and Della McCollum.
