Charles "Charlie" Thomas Adkins, a beloved family man, material foreman at General Motors, and a proud veteran who served in the army during the Vietnam War, has passed away on November 16, 2023. Born on November 6, 1950, his life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of patriotism.
Charlie dedicated an impressive 32 years of his life to General Motors as a material foreman. His commitment and expertise were highly regarded by his colleagues. He approached his work with diligence and a strong work ethic, leaving an indelible mark on the organization. Charlie's dedication to his career was unquestionable, and he took great pride in the contributions he made throughout his tenure.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charlie will also be remembered as a devoted family man. He found immense joy in spending time with his wife Cathy and their children. He and Cathy were together for 43 wonderful years. One of their favorite activities was camping together, creating cherished memories amidst the serenity of nature. The Adkins family's bond grew stronger through their shared adventures under the starry sky.
Charlie had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room. He had an uncanny ability to find humor in every situation and was known for lifting spirits with his jokes. Whether it was laughing with family or even brightening the days of nurses during his hospital stays, Charlie spread joy wherever he went.
As a veteran who served in the army during the Vietnam War, Charlie held a deep love for his country. With pride in his heart and a strong sense of duty, he lived in Nuremberg, Germany during his service years. His commitment to defending freedom resonated within him throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for December 18, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, gathering with a service to follow at 11AM. Both at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery - 801 NW 108th Street; Kansas City, MO 64155.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, and his son: Cletus Murray.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; three daughters: Tammy (James) Monaco, Brandi (Chad) Rasmussen, and Shirley Kerr; grandchildren: Jordyn, Brandyn, Alina, Alexa, Jackson, Lexi, Hunter, Catie, Shawn, and Allison; great grandchildren: Amila, and Eli; step brother: Don Thompson, and step sister: Alice Reeves; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
