Charles Marvin Davis Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024. Born on May 21, 1938, in Chillicothe, Missouri, Charles was the son of Charles Sr. Davis and Frances Irene Bench.
After graduating from high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Army, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned nearly three decades. He honorably served in the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard, achieving the esteemed rank of Command Sergeant Major. During his service, Charles was committed to furthering his education, earning a bachelor's degree in business from Rockhurst University.
In 1974, Charles embarked on a new chapter, joining the United States Postal Service. He dedicated over 20 years to his role, retiring in 2002. Charles was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his duties.
In his retirement, Charles enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found meticulously tending to his yard, delving into books about the Civil War, or challenging himself with crossword puzzles. His passion for history and love of learning remained constants throughout his life.
Charles Marvin Davis Jr. leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and quiet strength. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and son, Kevin Davis. He will be deeply missed by those who survive him; his wife of Barbara (King) Davis; son, Chris Davis; and granddaughter, Jessi Davis.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery on Thursday, June 20th at 11:00am.
