Searcy, daughter Anna Searcy, brothers Edward Barker (Kathy), Alan Barker (Marina), and Roger Barker, and five nephews and nieces.  Cynthia Rae Barker was born on 23 July, 1951 in Sedalia, Missouri.  Her family moved to Kansas City and later settled in Smithville, Missouri.  She graduated from Smithville High School in 1969 where she played clarinet in the band and was a member of the girls basketball team.  She started her government career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District in the mid 1970s.  She was working for the Corps when she met Kenny in 1981.  They were married in October 1984 and moved to West Germany in 1985.  They lived in Darmstadt, Ramstein, and Crailsheim, West Germany for the next seven years.  She continued her government career by working for the Kaiserslautern Facility Engineer.  Cindy enjoyed her time as an Army wife as she worked with the other wives to better the lives of the children and families.  In 1992 they moved to Kansas City and purchased a home in Kansas City North.  She continued her career with the Kansas City District from 1992 until her retirement in 2006.  In 1996 they were lucky enough to adopt Anna and fulfill her dreams of having a child.  She enjoyed gardening, entertaining her friends and family, and watching Anna dance and play softball.  She passed away from complications of diabetes, Parkinson’s, and dementia.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.

In lieu of a standard funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 7-8:30pm.
