David E. Magee

David E Magee, 73, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on June 16, 2025.

Dave was born in Germany and adopted by Charles and Rose Marie Magee, as their only child. He grew up in the Kansas City Metro area most of his life. Dave served in the US Army after high school and worked alongside his father at Ziebert for many years.

Dave was an avid pool player throughout his life, even coaching a youth team. Dave was involved with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) in the Johnson County area playing a supportive role in many juvenile lives.

Early on in life, Dave enjoyed being an active father in his children’s lives supporting their many interests from sporting activities to school events. Dave found a passion restoring antique furniture, bringing family heirlooms back to life. Later in life, Dave enjoyed spending time playing pool with friends and taking rides on his Harley with his son Scott and friends.

Dave is survived by his children, Major Chapman (Shawna), Scott Magee (Shianne) and Tara Magee-Kelley (Heath), 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, former spouses Judy Stubbs and Teresa Nieuwendaal as well as an aunt and uncle and many cousins. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Charles E and Rose Marie Magee along with several aunts and uncles.
