David Charles Myers, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 6, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Born on June 8, 1965, in Brookfield, Missouri, David was the son of the late Reverend Franklin Earl Myers and Emogene Elizabeth Myers. He grew up in the small town of Boonville, Missouri, where he graduated from high school in 1983.
David dedicated his 34-year career to commercial construction. He was involved as construction manager on many projects in the Kansas City and surrounding areas, including the iconic Downtown Library Garage “bookshelf design”; the repurposing of the Historic Kansas City Post Office (into the IRS complex), and the Dixie Stampede in Branson, MO. He was currently employed at CBRE as Sr. Project Manager.
A chance meeting at church led him to meet the love of his life, Jessica. They married on May 11, 2002, and were blessed with two children, Taylor Nicole and Ryan Avery. When he wasn't hard at work, David enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—solving puzzles and Sudoku, mid-day golf outings (justified as “Landscape Meetings”), sharing laughter with family and friends, and catching up on well-deserved rest. Always up for a challenge, every family vacation involved visiting the local “escape rooms”, often multiple locations.
Preceded in death by his parents, David’s memory lives on through his loving wife, Jessica Myers; children, Taylor and Ryan; sister, Donna (Bradley) McClaughry; brother, John Myers; sisters-in-law, Amanda (Forrest) Fisher and Angela Free; brother-in-law, Joe (Heather) Free; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dave was diagnosed in July with AML (a form of leukemia). Dave fought courageously for 6 months, enduring monthly rounds of chemo and subsequent bone marrow biopsies to discover that yet another round was necessary. His doctors continued to offer multiple treatments, until he suffered complications and treatment was no longer feasible.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th St, Kansas City, MO 64155, on Tuesday, December 16th with visitation beginning at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am, and burial at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to consider joining the Bone Marrow registry at NMDP.org and continue to support your local blood drives.
Due to technology, It only takes a mouth swab to join the registry, and donating stem cells can be as easy as donating blood, no surgeries involved. Although you can be on the registry up until age 60, NMDP suggests joining between the ages of 18-35.
