Denis Monnig

Denis William Monnig, 93, of Gladstone, passed away July 6, 2021.  Visitation will be Monday, July 12, from 10-11am, followed by a memorial service at 11am, all at Terrace Park Funeral Home.  Inurnment will take place at Terrace Park Cemetery.  A luncheon will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church following the service.

Denis was born on February 4, 1928 in Aholt, Missouri, to Richard P. and Sophie Elizabeth (Fuemmeler) Monnig.  He married Joan Hathhorn on November 30, 1957.  Denis was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church since September of 1958.  He was also a lifetime member of the Northland (BPOE) Elks Lodge #2376 and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge as well as the Moose Lodge.  Denis was employed by TWA for 31 years.

In his spare time, Denis enjoyed reading (especially novels by Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey) and studying the World Globe and Atlas. He also spent time boating, fishing, and RVing; he and Joan traveled extensively for many years and were also active in a local dance group in Kearney.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; his son, Brent and daughter-in-law Rhonda F. Monnig; and his daughter, Rhonda L. Monnig.  He will be dearly missed.
