Dilys Rowena Johnson, 87, of Olathe, Kansas (formerly of Kansas City, MO) passed away on Friday July 29, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Memorial services are 11:00 am Monday August 1st at Gashland Presbyterian Church, 8029 North Oak St, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to her church or Kansas City Hospice House.Dilys was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 20, 1924 to Richard G. and Martha T. Roberts. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and remained active in church for the rest of her life. Her beautiful soprano voice was enjoyed by several church choirs. She was currently a member of Gashland Presbyterian Church. Dilys married John Edward Johnson on June 1, 1946 in Chicago. She worked as a secretary for much of her life and retired from Trans World Airlines in January, 1986. Dilys took great joy as a homemaker and mother. Her special gift at Christmas to friends and family were her trays of delicious homemade cookies. Dilys was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Hazel Roberts, Lydia Chilton, brothers, Gordon and Elmer Roberts and her husband, John Edward Johnson. Survivors include her four children, Dawn Bullok, of Olathe, Kansas, Bonnie Voth, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nancy Vance, of Port Townsend, Washington, Mark Johnson, of Kansas City, Missouri, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
