Dorothy’s greatest loves were taking care of her family and spending time with her friends. Her days were filled with homemade meals and walking her neighborhood with friends. You could always show up last minute to Dorothy’s house and she would make sure that you were comfortable and well fed. Dorothy worked for the Park Hill School District for 27 years. After retiring she went on to work part time at Christopher & Banks for almost 11 years.

Dorothy McClanahan and John Hamilton were united in marriage on September 10, 1955, at Eureka Methodist Church, Rader, Missouri. After getting married, John and Dorothy moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they lived and raised their three boys.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Hamilton; her parents, James and Nina McClanahan; daughter-in-law, Heather Hamilton; five sisters, Pauline Randolph, and husband Jim; Betty Nichols; Reta Mathis; Debra Price and husband Dennis; Shirley Rader and husband Junior.
