Obituary

DOROTHY WALDEN LOHMEYER, 88, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, with family by her side.

Dot was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1937 to Dorothy and Leslie Walden. After graduating high school Dorothy worked as an executive secretary eventually moving up to a very successful sales career in electronic communications products. Dorothy was an avid seamstress, crocheter, and knitter.

Dorothy married Wendell Buckley in 1955 in DeSoto, Mississippi, and divorced in 1976. Her career took her to Cleveland, Ohio, where she met and married Heinrich Lohmeyer in 2005. Heinrich passed away in 2012. In 2022, Dot moved to Kansas City to be closer to her daughter, Eva.

Dorothy was a member of Valley View Village Church in Cleveland, OH, for a quarter century. She served throughout the years as the treasurer, hosted fellowship groups in her home, sewed for the Brother's Keeper Quilt Group, cooked with the church's meal ministry, and taught children's church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Buddy Walden, and is survived by her sister Carol Swindell and sister-in law Margret Walden. Dot will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter, Eva (Jeff) Karp; sons, Doug and Wendell Buckley; Dot's niece Melinda Strickland; grandchildren, Lee (Cheryl) and Kevin (Karen) Chisholm, and Steven (Katie) Buckley; great- grandchildren Scott and Lilly Chisholm, Karma and Faith Chisholm, and Annie Kate Buckley; step- children Lisa (Don) Gilson, Brian Lohmeyer, Heidi (Bill) Nadolny, Linda (Shawn) Vitu and Paul and Anna Jan; step-grandchildren, Gregory (Lindsey), Ryan (Mayan), Christiana, Nathan, Jesse, Rebekah, Benjamin, William, Zachary, Arianna, Karl, Joshua, Isaac, Jacob, Jonathan; step-great-grandson, Aiden; siblings, Martin, Karl, Ernst, and Elise Meyer.

A private family celebration will be held on February 16, 2026, at Terrace Park Funeral Home in Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
