Eleanor Patricia Helm

Eleanor Patricia Helm (Witherspoon) known as Patty by most of her family, 84, passed away on August 09, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia.

She was born on August 23rd, 1940, to Louie Thomas Witherspoon and Gladys Marie (Settles).

Eleanor was a member of her local Baptist church. She worked for General Motors until retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. After retiring, she had more time to paint, often taking painting classes, and drawing, which she loved dearly. She also had a profound interest in crafting and tinkering. She enjoyed gardening her flowers, going to the thrift store, and reading books. Her dogs held a very special place in her heart.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Robert and Frank Witherspoon; and sisters: Gloria Williams and Francis Neeley.

She is survived by her children: Cathleen Dray, Misty (Dave) Michael, John (Connie) Helm III, and Eric Helm; grandchildren: James (Abbie) Nickell, Jennifer (Jake) Burch, Scott (Christina) Nickell, Brett (Brianna) Nickell, Chandalynn Helm, Lucas Dray, Brandon Helm, and Heather Dray; great grandchildren: Kyle (Evie), Tatum, Dontae, Savannah, Presley, Malachi, Hayden, and Ronan; sisters: Barbara (Leslie) Edwards and Judy Racobs; as well as her many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
