Evelyn Brown

February 22, 1943 — May 12, 2022

Evelyn Suvilla Brown, 79, passed away on May 12, 2022.

Evelyn was born on February 22, 1943 in Grugan Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania to Clyde and Carrie Hibbler.  Evelyn was one of 17 children.  Her family moved to West Virgina where she spent her childhood years. She met James “Jim” Brown in Niagara Falls where he was stationed in the Air Force. After a brief period of dating, Jim and Evelyn were married on June 14, 1960. Their marriage was blessed with three sons with whom Evelyn took great pride in raising. She coached her sons in swimming and would even enjoy taking them fishing and hunting. In her later years, she and Jim spent time travelling and camping all across the United States, but Arizona and New Mexico were where they frequently resided during the winter season. Evelyn also meticulously cared for her impressive garden - growing brightly colored flowers, fruits and vegetables that she would can and make her legendary salsa, vegetables, and jellies from.  She was an excellent cook, always making sure her family was well fed.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; son, Frank Leon Brown; siblings, Stella, Mary, Ellamae, Blanche, Clyde, Mildred, Warren, Carrie, Louise, Charlotte.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of nearly 62 years, Jim Brown; sons, Dale Edward (Sandi) Brown and James “Jim” Wallace Jr (Janis) Brown; grandchildren, Garrison, Rio, Cooper, Justin, and Alex (Teena); great grandchildren, Kayden, Sawyer, and Delia; and many extended family and friends.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a time for sharing remembrances at 1:30 p.m.
