Fern M. Brashear, born on June 24, 1934, in the heart of Pleasanton, KS, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will be cherished by all who knew her. She was 90 years old.
Her warm heart touched countless lives from the very beginning, as she became a beacon of support for her community by working with childcare and many other things. She thrived in her roles, whether as a Cub Scout leader or helping out with the Neighborhood Watch, ensuring that the environment was safe and nurturing for families.
Fern was an active member of Northland Baptist Church, where her influence was profoundly felt. She devoted much of her time to helping senior groups, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to serve others. Through her participation in the PTA during her children's and grandchildren’s formative years, she built connections and friendships that would last a lifetime, guiding not only her family but also her wider community with her kindness and wisdom.
In her quieter moments, Fern found joy in sewing and reading. She delighted in the pages of stories from the Daily Bread, Guide Post, and her Bible, absorbing the lessons of faith and hope that these texts offered. Her creativity and resourcefulness shone through in her handmade creations, each piece telling a story of care and craftsmanship.
Fern's life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and service. Her proud accomplishments echo her dedication to her faith and family, all of which she embraced with an open heart. She will be forever remembered for her ability to uplift those around her and her commitment to her family.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Brashear; her parents: Raymond and Leona Vail; brothers: Leland, Hershal, and Herman Vail; sister: Vivian Bright; and grandson: Vincent Brashear.
She is survived by her sister: Joan Stinnette; children: Mike Brashear, Debbie Hendren, Mark Brashear, Phil Brashear, Cheryl Worley, and Denny Brashear; grandchildren: Stephen, Kourie, Patrick, Nicole, James, Leah, Jessica, and Corey; as well as 14 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
