Gayle Bennett-Grant

Gayle Lynn Bennett-Grant, 67, passed away at home on June 14, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones after a hard fought battle with liver cancer.

Gayle was born on July 26, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to Dale and Alliene Bennett. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West in 1970 and continued her education receiving her BS and MS in sociology from Emporia State University. Gayle was employed for 38 years with Concerned Care, Inc. and worked as Director of Residential Services for the last 16 years until she retired in 2018. She was a member of the Northland Business Women’s Breakfast Club for many years, as well as an active member at North Cross United Methodist Church.

Gayle is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Petty; and brothers-in-law, Patrick Anthony Grant and Jon Ehlers. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 34 years, Bill Grant; sister, Sandy Bennett; brothers-in-law, Mike Petty and John Dunlevy; sisters-in-law, Frederica (Tony) Trunkel, Barbie Ehlers (Len Fink), Claudia Grant and Vanessa (Tom) Grant-Nauman; nieces, Kim, Martha (Eric), Johanna, Jamie (Ken), Ashley and Sarah; nephews, David (Elli), Steven, Ryan (Julie), Nathan (Alyssa) and Jordan; great nieces and nephews, Sean, Connor, Teagan, Quinn, Kathleen, Bella, Annie, Audrey, Carly, Brooke and Blake; longtime friend, Cheri Johnson and her beloved dogs.

A visitation will be held at North Cross United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 18 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Due to Covid restrictions the family will have a private funeral service, which will be live streamed and recorded through the church's Youtube page,\North Cross UMC. The church asks that everyone attending the visitation to please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Casual dress attire recommended. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Kansas Cancer Center (8700 N. Green Hills Rd., Kansas City MO 64154) or to Kansas City Hospice House and Pallative Care (
