Eugene (Gene) M. Pease, born on September 10, 1938, departed this world on November 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, craftsmanship, and community spirit that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Gene dedicated 28 years of his life to the world of technology as a Program Support Representative / Software Engineer for IBM, followed by six fulfilling years at UMB Bank until he retired. Prior to his time at IBM and UMB Bank, he served our country in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician (ET2). His keen intellect and practical skills were a hallmark of his professional journey, but it was his gentle nature that truly defined him.
From his early days as an outdoorsman, Gene found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time fishing and quail hunting. Those memories paint a picture of a man who appreciated the beauty of nature and the tranquility it brings. In later years, Gene found solace and satisfaction in woodworking, pouring his heart into creating handcrafted pens and other crafts in his beloved shop. His hands were always busy, shaping wood into tangible pieces of art that symbolize his love for craftsmanship.
Gene was a devoted member of the Platte Woods United Methodist Church, attending since 1986. His commitment to faith and fellowship was further exemplified through his participation in the Seekers Sunday School class and his involvement with GOMAWs (Godly Old Men At Work), where he shared laughter, wisdom, and camaraderie with his peers. In addition, Gene held a special place within the Masonic community as a member of the Compass Lodge 120 in North Kansas City, and Barry Chapter 369 of Eastern Star in Kansas City where the bonds of brotherhood enriched his life.
The enrichment Gene brought to others was profound. He had a gift for connecting deeply with people, leaving a lasting impact on family, friends, and community. He nurtured relationships with kindness and humility, always ready with a helping hand.
As we remember Gene, we celebrate not just a life well-lived but a spirit that will forever illuminate the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. His warmth, creativity, and dedication to service will undoubtedly resonate through the years to come.
This loving community will carry forward his legacy of kindness and craftsmanship. He will be remembered as a loving friend, an inspiring mentor, and a master craftsman.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Pease and Naomi Osinger (Finley), his brother Charles (Margene) Pease, stepsister Shirley (Charles) Blue as well as his many cousins.
