Gladys (Shankles) Hon, 83, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on July 24, 2020.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Bessie, and father, T-Bone Shankles, brother, Billy; three sisters: Lorene, Bonnie, and Chrestene; and great-grandchildren: Ashley, Callie, and Cameron.

Gladys was born July 19, 1937 in Muddy Fork, AR. She was married to Richard Hon for over 65 wonderful years. They had two children, Duke and Debbie.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Hon, Sr., and her sister, Iris Hill (Gerald). Her two children: Richard Hon, Jr. (Diane) and Debbie Bledsoe (Bob). Her four grandchildren: Lori Nelson (Mathias), Ben Hon (Heather), Tim Hon, and Amy Anderson (Doug). Her great grandchildren: Tanner, Kaylee, Dalton, Gunnar, Caleb, Cole, Clayton, Hunter, Fisher, Piper, and Katherine.

Gladys was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her faith in Jesus Christ was steadfast throughout her life. Her mission was to help the less fortunate. Giving was her greatest gift. She was always the life of a conversation and gave everyone numerous laughs. She enjoyed planting flowers in her Secret Garden. She loved to cook for her family and anyone who needed a meal. She touched many lives by teaching faith and love by example.

A visitation will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 10-11 am. Her funeral service will begin at 11 am with graveside service and burial following at Terrace Park Cemetery.
