Harold Ray Gillispie, a beloved family man and dedicated professional, passed away on September 6, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 85. Born on August 3, 1940, Harold lived a life marked by hard work, love, and devotion to his family.

After graduating from North Kansas City High School, Harold embarked on a distinguished 35-year career as a truck driver. His commitment to providing for his family was unwavering, showcasing his tireless work ethic and dedication. Following his retirement, he lent his services to the community by driving a school bus for several years, further illustrating his commitment to the well-being of others, especially children.

Harold was an amazing father, nurturing and teaching his children the importance of hard work and self-sufficiency. He shared a deep bond with his wife, Fredrica, with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter, raising their family in a house that Harold built with his own hands. His legacy is one of unconditional love, strength, and humor, values that have been instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Beyond his professional achievements, Harold had a deep passion for cars. In his free time, he could often be found restoring and rebuilding vehicles, taking joy in transforming something that was broken into something beautiful. His ability to fix nearly anything was a testament to his skills and generosity—the essence of who he was.

Harold was also a man of faith, grounding his life in his belief in Jesus Christ. He exemplified a godly character, impacting those around him through his kindness and compassion.

As family and friends gather to celebrate Harold's remarkable life, they will remember him not only for his dedication to work and family but also for his warm heart and his substantial contributions to those fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of life will be held at Nashua Church of Christ in Kansas City on September 12, 2025, at 3:00 pm., providing an opportunity for loved ones to reflect on the cherished memories and profound impact Harold had on their lives.

Harold is preceded on death by his parents, Lester and Anna Faye Gillispie; his loving wife Fredrica Gillispie; sisters, Saundra Harris, Joyce Reeves; and his brother, Steve Gillispie.

He is survived by his children, Joey Sweeney, Shawn Gillispie (Stephanie), Mark Gillispie (Angel), Holly Collins (Nick), Mindy Broyles (Matthew); his sister, Leslie Gillispie; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Harold Ray Gillispie leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and faith, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
