Obituary

Harry E. Round, 100, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on June 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, laughter, and unconditional love.

Harry was born on June 24, 1926, to Harry and Hazel Round. He was the oldest of four children, growing up alongside his sisters, Violet (Ernie) Dipple and Ethyl (Gary) Pettijohn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hazel Round, and his brother, Gene Round, beloved wife, Velma Womack-Round, son in law, Jack Wicker, nephews Jeff Pettijohn, Ted and spouse Rose Dipple, Jimmy Dippel and niece Vicki Pettijohn-Bohl.

A proud member of The Greatest Generation, Harry faithfully served his country during World War II. After returning home, he built a life centered on family, integrity, and service.

Throughout the years, he worked for DX Gas Station, owned and operated a restaurant, and later spent many years serving as a respected union negotiator, always standing up for what he believed was right.

He is lovingly survived by his three daughters: April Wicker, Ceil (Rob) Stark, and Colleen (Lonnie) Hardy.

He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Nathan Wicker, Rachael Wicker, Derek Baxter, Chad (Lauren) Baxter, Emmanuel (Hannah) Gonzalez, and Auston (Kelle) Hardy.

Harry was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Preston Leach, Jackson Wicker, Charlie Roberts, Noah Gonzalez, Josilynn Gonzalez, Gideon Gonzalez, Zymri Hardy, Selah Hardy, Keanna Baxter, Annalise Baxter, and Nolan Baxter.

He is also survived by his stepchildren: Carolyn (Jack) Bringus, Larry (Nancy) Womack, Steve (Judy) Womack, and Gary (Linda) Womack, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

To those who knew Harry best, he will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for how he loved. Every morning began with his familiar words, “Rise and shine!” He rarely missed a ballgame, concert, recital, or school activity, always cheering the loudest for his girls. He faithfully took his daughters to church, instilling in them a love for God that continues through the generations.

Harry loved a good, spirited debate and never shied away from a healthy argument. Around the family table, he could often be found enjoying games of Rummy and Mexican Train Dominoes, where laughter and friendly competition created memories that will be treasured forever.

Harry’s life was measured not by wealth, but by faithfulness. He worked hard, loved deeply, served honorably, and leaves behind a family forever grateful to have called him Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, and friend.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing he has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His family takes comfort in the promise that one day they will hear his familiar voice once more saying, “Rise and shine.”

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
