Howard Joseph Scott, 70, of Nebraska City, NE passed away July 11, 2025. Howard was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1954 to Howard H. Scott and Betty J. Scott. He grew up on the family farm in Kansas City and graduated from St. Pius High School.
After high school, he received his degree in pharmacology from University of Missouri Kansas City and worked as a pharmacist for 35 years. He also worked the family farm for over 50 years, growing corn, soybeans, and wheat, as well as raising various livestock at different times.
Known affectionately as “Handy Howie”, he was a true farmer in that he could fix just about anything. When he wasn’t farming, it was usually because he was repairing a tractor, working on a car, or finding ways to improve the farm.
Howard worked hard every day of his life. He cared deeply for his family and did his best to make sure that everyone was taken care of. He never complained, never asked for anything, and was always there to help. But he also enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and ski trips with his girls.
Howard is preceded in death by his granddaughter Zoey S. Hill, his parents Howard H. Scott and Betty J. Archer, stepmother Juanita Bunton-Scott, and his sister Paula J. Scott. He is survived by his daughters Aubree E. Wisley, and husband Luke, and Brandie M. Scott-Hill, and his grandchildren Finley S. Hill, Magdalene E. Wisley, Ezra S. Hill, Swayze S. Hill, and Aiden G. Wisley.
Howard attended St. Therese Catholic Church until his move to Nebraska City and his faith in the Lord was very important to him.
Visitation will be at 9:30 am Friday, July 18 , 2025 at St. Therese Catholic Church with mass of Christian burial at 10:30 am. Burial will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture (mofb.org/support-the-foundation).
