James "Jim" Henry Saunders

December 31, 1952 — May 8, 2025

James "Jim" Henry Saunders, a cherished soul with a heart full of laughter and a spirit that ignited joy, departed this world on May 8, 2025. Born on December 31, 1952, to Howard C. and Margaret Saunders, Jim's life became a testament to the beauty of simplicity and the warmth of family bonds.

For many years, Jim dedicated himself as a warehouseman for the Metro Park Warehouse, pouring his heart into every task, serving as a dependable pillar within the community. Yet, it was not just his commitment to work that defined him; rather, it was his abiding passion for the things he loved that truly illuminated his life. An aficionado of old western shows, Jim could often be found immersed in tales of heroes and rugged landscapes, his laughter echoing warmly against the backdrop of classic car shows and the thrill of Royals and Chiefs games on the television. He shared those moments with the simple pleasure of a cigar in hand, relishing the blend of camaraderie and the cheers of competition.

Jim’s greatest pride, however, stemmed from the love he shared with his wife, Kathy. Their marriage, a harmonious union since 1995, was marked by moments of shared humor and companionship that transcended the ordinary, forever proving that laughter is indeed the glue of a lasting bond. Always making Kathy laugh, Jim's jovial spirit served as a beacon of light, guiding them through life’s simplest joys and challenges alike.

A devoted member of the Edwardsville Christian Church, Jim found purpose and fulfillment within his faith. His involvement in community events and within the Odd Fellows mirrored the kindness embedded in his character, creating ripples of goodwill that extended far beyond his immediate sphere.

As we reflect on Jim’s journey through this life, we remember not only the milestones he achieved but the warmth he spread. His memory remains imprinted on every heart touched by his kindness, forever encouraging us to find joy in the everyday and laughter in the simplest of moments.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: Linda (Roddy) Budimlija and niece: Terri Smith.

He is survived by his loving family which include his wife: Kathy Saunders; daughter: Dedre (Paul) Beattie; sister: Theresa Saunders; grandchildren: Jozie Rempel and Jaiden Hilboldt; great grandchildren: Zander, Zealand, and Zayn; sister in law: Susy Campbell; nieces: Jess, Campbell, Melissa Budimlija, Christina Budimlija, and Carrie Willman; nephews: Eddie, Mark, Rudy, and Damion Hernandez.
